A total of 29,152 women are waiting for an appointment with a gynaecologist, it’s been revealed.
The shocking statistic shows almost 12,000 women in Dublin are waiting on appointments, drastically up in the last five years by a staggering 43%.
The Midlands is no different with 2,892 women on waiting lists, and 2,336 waiting in the Mid-West and 1,553 in Cork on waiting lists. It’s understood that the majority of appointments are routine gynaecological appointments but that’s little comfort to those women waiting.
By the end of May, almost 600,000 people in Ireland, including children, were waiting to see a consultant for an outpatient appointment.
