Joan Burton may be gone but it looks like her harsh plans may continue.
In a controversial document, seen by The Liberal, the newly formed government are contemplating a drastic measure that will cut child benefit.
They plan on linking a child’s school attendance to that of the payment I parents receive for their child.
Irrespective of health issues, if the child misses a so-far undeclared number of days, the benefit will be substantially cut.
The Fine Gael led minority government think they could save €100 million on child benefit payments.
