Gardaí in Drogheda, Co Louth have confirmed that they arrested five youths in connection with the assault of a Garda officer on Friday evening where they kicked and stamped on the head of the officer in question.
In what is described as a “mini riot” on West Street, approximately between 9:30pm and 10pm saw a fracas break out where a number of youths, believed to be from Balbriggan, North Dublin square up to gardai with a number of teenage youths over 6ft tall squaring up to one particular female garda.
The shocking incident which was recorded and has since been uploaded online, the Garda officer can be seen lying on the ground and being repeatedly kicked by the gang to the head.

The garda in question received a number of injuries to their face.
Disgracefully all five thugs have been released by gardai pending an investigation.
