It has emerged that Irish Water workers are to be benchmarked against similar industries and will receive pay increases in the future – regardless of the work they carry out or the results they get.
This deplorable revelation is the latest blunder in what has been an absolute and total disaster for the government. It comes hot on the heels of what’s being described as ‘bully boy tactics’ by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny who has announced that a 4% increase on income tax will have to be invoked if they scrap the water charges.
The people showed how they felt yesterday, and with more protests planned, this fight is definitely the people’s to lose rather than the government to win.
