The issue of access to mental health services in the country continues to be a source of shocking embarrassment for the HSE.
A new report just published reveals that young people are usually forced to wait over 12 months on average, before they can access services.
The report compiles figures for January and February of this year, and reveals that 182 teenagers and children in January and 177 in February had to wait for an appointment for 12 months or longer.
In response to the shocking revelation, a spokesperson for the HSE said that difficulties in recruiting staff are largely to blame.
These shameful revelations come shortly after former Minister for Health Leo Varadkar plundered the mental health budget to the tune of 12m.
