Police in Belfast have launched an investigation after a man on a mobility scooter was disgracefully attacked and robbed in the city recently.

Police say the despicable incident occurred in the Peters Hill area in north Belfast at approximately 2.45pm yesterday afternoon. It is believed the man was approached by two men understood to be in their early twenties, who then asked him for a cigarette. However they then proceeded to attack the defenseless man and threatened  him with a stanley knife and ordered him to hand over his money. When the man refused, they viciously slashed him on the arm.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, then reluctantly gave the heartless thugs some cash, but they slashed him again. Police say the man was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for his non life threatening injuries.
