Touching: 5 year old Co Offaly girl sings to her grandmother who has dementia for the first time and they instantly connect

In a truly heartwarming video a five year old girl has met her grandmother for the very first time and they have formed an instant bond.

The clip which is just under a minute long shows the moment when 5  year old Sophie Flynn from Co Offaly sings to her grandmother Brenda Brock, aged 82, for the first time. Brenda who suffers from dementia and is also blind, instantly connected with her granddaughter by responding to her voice.

The moving video, which was uploaded by Sophie’s granddad, has been viewed more than 100,000 times on Facebook. The truly touching moment has become a viral sensation and has appeared in media outlets worldwide.

An emotional Sarah (Sopihe’s mother) told The Mirror: “Sophie just jumped straight into bed with Nana and started chatting to her and singing to her and stroking her face. “Sophie brought her back to life. It was amazing, we just couldn’t believe it. When they were together it was like they were the only two people in the room.”
