Disney confirms that an episode of The Simpsons featuring Michael Jackson will not air on Disney +

Last week bosses at Disney confirmed that it’s new streaming service Disney + will launch in Ireland and the UK in March 2020.

However the highly anticipated streaming service has already launched in the US with 20 million subscribers signing up.

But despite the strong start, the service has already drawn some criticism as it has been confirmed that an episode of The Simpsons featuring the voice of Michael Jackson will not air on the platform.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney have decided not to place the season 3 episode “Stark Raving Dad” on the service.

The episode which was released in 1993, starred Jackson who voiced the character of Leon Kompowsky who meets Homer in a mental institution.

Although Disney have not issued any response as to why the episode was omitted from the streaming service, one of the producers of The Simpsons James L Brooks, did confirm that the episode would be pulled from broadcast circulation, saying that “it was the only choice to make.”

Jackson who died in 2009 was brought back into the spotlight in March this year following the airing of The Leaving Neverland documentary.

In the documentary multiple men accused the singer of molesting them when they were boys.

The accusations have since been strongly denied by the Jackson family estate.
