Let’s face it – who doesn’t love Dublin’s Grafton Streets lights at Christmas time? When they get lit up – they’re symbolic that Christmas really is on the way whether you’re ready for it or not!

Christmas lights in homes and cities across the country are a tradition during the festive season, but a luminous sign now hanging over one of Dublin’s best-known shopping streets has left locals truly baffled and even caused much debate online.

The sign, which hangs over Grafton Street in the capital, reads ‘Welcome to Grafton Quarter.’

The rationale behind rebranding this internationally recognised shopping street to ‘Quarter’ remains unknown, but the controversy has so far created a firestorm of social media attention.
