The Divorce Referendum has passed with a vast majority of 82.1% to 17.1%.
The results mean that couples seeking to divorce will no longer need to live separately for four years before they can legally apply for legal separation. That period has now been shortened to just 24 months.
The result amounts to a historic landslide victory and reflects the changed attitudes in Irish society.
