A missing Texas man was devoured by his own dogs, local officials have confirmed after DNA testing of human remains found at the location.

The man, named locally as Freddie Mack, was believed to live in isolation in a remote rural area of Texas. His only company was a pack of up to 18 dogs.

Mr. Mack had last been seen in April, and when officials went searching for him, he was nowhere to be seen. Only when police officers noticed bone fragments in the dogs’ faeces, suspicions arose of what had happened to the missing man.

DNA testing confirmed that the fragments did indeed belong to Mr. Mack, whose body had totally been consumed by his dogs. The man was known to suffer from a number of health issues, so it’s unclear whether he was killed and eaten by the dogs, or consumed post-mortem.
