Do you believe him? Zelensky claims that Ukraine is closer to end of its war with Russia

According to the Ukrainian leader, Ukraine can only pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin “to stop the war” from a “strong position”, reports RTE.

In his Sunday arrival, Mr. Zelensky called on his allies to assist in achieving “a shared victory for a truly just peace” as he made his way to the US to attend UN General Assembly meetings.

Since the start of the Russian incursion, Washington and its allies have offered multibillion-dollar support to Ukraine and imposed many rounds of penalties against Moscow, reports RTE.

According to Mr. Putin, only if Kyiv gives up its aspirations to join NATO and cedes large portions of eastern and southern Ukraine to Russia can peace negotiations start.

Excerpts from an interview Volodymyr Zelensky gave to US channel ABC News stated that his nation is “closer to the end of the war” with Russia.

He was cited as adding, “I think that we are closer to the peace than we think.” “We are closer to the end of the war,” reports RTE.

He pleaded with the US and its allies to keep helping Ukraine during the interview.

Full-scale Russia invasion of Ukraine started in February 2022 as what Moscow referred to as a “special operation”. Tens of thousands of people have died, millions more have been displaced, and Ukrainian towns and cities have been completely destroyed, reports RTE.

Mr. Zelensky has demanded time and time again that all Russian forces leave Ukraine and that its pre-Soviet boundaries be restored.

On August 6, Kyiv launched a cross-border assault into the western Kursk region of Russia.

According to Ukraine, one of the goal of the operation is to stop nearby Russian soldiers from crossing the border and attacking Ukraine, reports RTE.
