Met Eireann warns people to be vigilant amid continued heavy downpours and possible floods




The south and south-east are expected to see the worst of the weather, and Cork, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, and Wexford are under a Status Orange notice, reports Sunday World.

Met Éireann issued four weather warnings for nine counties today, indicating heavy rain, strong gusts, and the possibility of floods in certain parts. As a result, the majority of the nation is expecting washout conditions today.

With two Status Orange alerts in effect for Cork, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, and Wexford due to heavy, thunderous downpours, the south and south-east are expected to see the worst of the weather, reports Sunday World.

The forecaster has alerted the five counties to the possibility of floods, hazardous driving conditions, and potential travel disruptions.

The annual Veterans Day event, scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled by the Defence Forces.

Two Status Yellow rain warnings, which are in effect until 8 p.m., have been issued by Met Éireann for the following counties: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow, reports Sunday World.

All coasts are also under Yellow alerts, some of which are in effect until midnight.

Due to heavy rain and high gusts, there may be flooding, hazardous driving conditions, and a chance of fallen trees and branches on roadways.

Up to 6 p.m., Cork and Waterford are under an orange rain warning, reports Sunday World.

Up to midnight, Carlow, Kilkenny, and Wexford are under an orange rain warning.

Up to 8 p.m., Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford are under a yellow rain warning.

Up to midnight, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow are under a yellow rain warning, reports Sunday World.
