According to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC), 982 Covid-19 instances were confirmed in the week ending last Saturday, reports RTE.
Although there has been a 135 rise from the previous week, the report notes that technical difficulties caused the cases from the previous week to be reported later than expected; these instances are now included in the most recent week’s statistics.
ICU stays “low and stable” as a result of COVID-19, reports RTE.
In comparison to the previous week, there were 404 hospitalisations in the week ending on Saturday.
There were also two recorded fatalities.
According to the HPSC, Covid-19 levels are still moderate to high overall.
It stated that there is no proof linking any of the strains that are currently in use to more serious illnesses, reports RTE.
