Do you want him? Micheál Martin says that he’s ‘fighting to be Taoiseach’

Tánaiste Micheál Martin expressed that he was “striving to become Taoiseach” as he cast his ballot at St Anthony’s Boys National School in Ballinlough, Cork, accompanied by his wife Mary, and their children Micheál Aodh, Cillian, and Aoibhe, reports Breaking News.

The leader of Fianna Fáil voted on a dark and rainy morning in Leeside. Mr. Martin remarked that the weather was unfortunate.

“It is unfortunate about the weather. It’s not an ideal day, but we’ve experienced this in other elections before.

“Despite that, people continue to show up to vote, and as we arrived this morning, it was evident that individuals were making the effort to participate in the election – I would encourage everyone to cast their votes, reports Breaking News.

“Voting is a crucial aspect of our democracy. Regardless of the weather, we strongly urge people to head out and vote. (However) it is regrettable that the morning is so rainy,” reports Breaking News.

Mr. Martin stated that he was working towards becoming Taoiseach after the polls closed.

“But nothing is definite until every ballot is tallied. There is always a period after an election regarding what unfolds in Dáil Éireann itself.”

“I believe it is far too early to speculate on any outcomes beyond our goal of maximizing both the number of votes and seats for Fianna Fáil. We will assess the situation further once the counting is finished,” reports Breaking News.

Mr. Martin mentioned that he did not wish to impose too many directives on voters.

“We are seeking to maximise the Fianna Fáil vote for Fianna Fáil candidates. What we are saying in the aftermath of the general election in terms of the formation of a Government is that we will align with parties that agree with the macro-fundamental principles of an enterprise economy of a positive pro-EU position, parties that are democratic in terms of how they conduct their affairs, parties that favour home ownership and that is very important. So there is a lot of hard work ahead. But certainly I did have a very good feeling in the last two to three days in terms of the response I was getting after the debates,” reports Breaking News.
