Going to your GP could soon become a thing of the past in years to come after the first ever online GP Postmaster Service has been officially launched in Kildare recently.
The new service which could change how GP consultations are conducted in the future was officially launched yesterday.
It is believed the service which is currently being rolled out on a trial basis will see a so called VideoDoc offering a medical consultation to patients online.
The service which is currently aimed at patients in rural areas is being offered in conjunction with An Post who have agreed to allow medical professionals to offer their services from a private medical booth called ‘The Hub’ which is located at a local Post Office.
The service is the first of its kind in Ireland and it’s trial run will be monitored for its suitability for national rollout at a later date.
