Doctors and pharmacists to be paid €60 to administer Covid-19 vaccine under new plans to be unveiled by the Health Minister

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is expected to announce plans that will see doctors and pharmacists administering the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to RTE News, the State will be paying €91m over the next six months to doctors and pharmacists to administer the Covid-19 vaccine.

It is understood that the proposal will be based on Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine which doesn’t require cold storage.

The plan would see doctors and pharmacists vaccinating 1.5 million and they will receive €60 per patient that requires two doses.

Meanwhile they will receive €35 per dose should a single dose vaccine such as Johnson and Johnson be approved.

It is expected that the plan would be reviewed in six months time.
