Donegal has this evening followed in the footsteps of Wicklow and Sligo and voted in favour of abolishing the water charges. All councilors present voted in favour of the motion, with one abstention.
The Council has also voted in support of a referendum for water ownership.
Fine Gael’s whip on the Council Barry O’Neill said ‘people have given enough.’ He added that ‘the Government have done a lot of good, but this is a step too far.’
