The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has warned of a potential second wave as he confirmed that the current Covid-19 R number has reduced in the past week.
Speaking to the Dail, Donnelly who praised the public for their efforts, confirmed that the R number now remains between 0.7 and 1.4.
However despite describing the progress made in the last week as encouraging, he did warn that the country’s leading Health experts are preparing for a second.
Donnelly told the Dail that although a second wave may occur it is hoped that it would be small given the low number of cases currently in the country.
He added that the Department of Health and Government are working alongside the Government and medical professionals in order to provide Covid-19 and non Covid-19 services during the winter.
