The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has said that he accepts responsibility in the National Children’s Hospital overrun and said that something went very very wrong in regards to cost.
Speaking to RTÉ’s Morning Ireland Programme, Minister Donohoe told the programme that he accepts his part in the overrun and we the Government should have handled things better.
The Minister for Finance also fully backed the Health Minister Simon Harris for his handling of the situation, saying that the Mr Harris has handled his role with immense competence and skill.
He added that the Government will learn from this in regards going forward in the future.
