Doonbeg residents “absolutely delighted” with “very successful” President Trump visit

It’s been a visit to remember. The entire country saw how gracious Donald Trump’s sons Don Jnr and Eric were when they visited the good people of Doonbeg. The residents were absolutely overwhelmed by the magnificent visit and how well it went and how incredibly welcome President Trump was in the town and indeed around the country by most.

A group of school children in Doonbeg had the experience of a lifetime on Friday morning after US President Donald Trump met with them on his golf course in Clare.

Aideen O’Mahony, the principal of Clohanes National School told RTE News that when she heard the president was playing golf at his resort, she brought the children and the three other staff at the school to her parents land which is just adjacent to the ninth hole on the course.

The school itself is within the security perimeter around the President’s hotel and so the pupils and staff were required to carry passes when entering and leaving the area.

When the teachers and pupils posted up on the side of the golf course on Friday morning with their American flags eventually the President came into view and waved to the children. After that the Secret Service approached the school principal and said that the president would be happy to speak to the children and their teachers.

The President shook hands with the pupils and teachers and spoke to them for some time before posing for photos with the delighted locals.

Speaking to RTE Principal O’Mahony described President Trump as “just so pleasant” with the children.

President Trump left for Air Force One to return to Washington DC a short time later.
