It was an Ethiopian double in this year’s Dublin City marathon as Asefa Bekele and Mesera Dubiso took gold in the men’s and women’s races this afternoon.

In the 39th annual marathon over 20,000 people took part all aid of a good cause.
Both Bekele and Dubiso who will take home a total of €12,000 each crossed the finish line times of 2:13:23 and 2:33:48 respectively.
The marathon saw a number of street closures around the city and Gardaà have warned the public that some road closures will remain in place until 9pm tonight.
