The Director of the UCD National Virus Reference Laboratory, Dr Cillian de Gascun has said that the Covid-19 vaccine is very effective against the Delta variant.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr de Gascun said that although the Delta variant is very more transmissible he said there is no undue concern.
However despite cases across the country being high, Dr de Gascun said the vaccines are very effective against the virus.
He added that they should be used all over the world in order to stem the threat of a new variant arising.
