Dr Holohan: I’m hopeful about May 5th but it’ll be a very slow unwinding of lockdown measures

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan was very candid on Friday night’s Late Late Show.

He said that the curve has somewhat flattened because of all the lockdown measures that people have done but we still need to do more.

Dr Holohan said that we have to look after the most vulnerable in society, the elderly, those with underlying issues. We need to be careful.

Host Ryan Tubridy asked Dr Holohan whether he thinks that children will be back in school in September, but without being evasive, Dr Holohan said that we must wait and see how things go.

He said that he’s hopeful we can start unwinding lockdown measures on May 5th but that it will be a very slow unwinding in the longrun.
