Wife killer Joe O’Reilly was thought to have been at risk of getting “a hiding” in Wheatfield Prison, prompting officials to move him to the Midlands Prison.
According to the Irish Mirror, O’Reilly has been throwing his weight around and acting in an extremely arrogant way since he was convicted of killing his wife, Rachel. He has been in prison for nearly 15 years and would have possibly been eligible to apply to move to an open prison and think about a limited release over the next few years. However, the Irish Mirror reports that having to move him for this reason is likely to put that off for some time.
The killing of Rachel O’Reilly shocked the nation and, when O’Reilly was ultimately convicted of her murder, there was horror throughout the country. Commenting on this latest news, Rachel’s mum Rose Callaly said that he “has a very high opinion of himself” but “you have to be what you are and it’s starting to show”.
