The vehicle fell dangerously over the gap in Cadgwith, Cornwall, after pulling off the road shortly before 4.30am Tuesday.

Firefighters managed to secure the car with harness so the driver could climb into the rear seats and exit through the boot unscathed.

Photos posted by the Coast Guard on social media show the vehicle lying on its side with the front half protruding from the edge.

According to the Metro, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Crews from Mullion and line rescue appliances from Tolvaddon attended this incident as well as an officer, which involved a single vehicle in a precarious position.

‘HM Coastguard and Devon and Cornwall Police also attended. Fire personnel used line rescue equipment to secure and stabilise the vehicle.

‘One casualty was successfully recovered, uninjured.’
