The Liberal understands that a number of people in Drogheda, Co Louth, plan on gathering at St. Peter’s Church steps on West Street in the centre of the town at 7pm tonight to light a candle and say a prayer for missing 8-yr-old Drogheda boy, Kyran Durnin.

There has been no official announcement, but it’s understood that a number of locals are gathering their friends, with work spreading throughout the town, that they’re going to meet at 7pm, Sunday at St. Peter’s steps for a prayer and candle vigil.

Gardai in Drogheda are said to be investigating the last known definitive sighting of  8-yr-old Kyran Durnin. They are looking into school attendance records, going back as far as 3 years ago.

The young boy, who was reported missing earlier this year, may have been slain more than two years ago, according to Gardaí, reports RTE.

In August, Kyran Durnin of Drogheda, County Louth, was reported missing.

According to the Gardaí, they have elevated the case to a murder inquiry since they think Kyran is missing and thought dead.

Regarding Kyran, a missing persons complaint was submitted to the Drogheda Garda Station on August 30, reports RTE.

He was last seen in the town two days prior, according to the Gardaí.

They released an informational appeal, a picture of Kyran at roughly age six, and a description of the clothing he was wearing.

Information uncovered throughout this investigation gave officers reason to believe Kyran had been absent for more than two days, reports RTE.

Despite conducting a number of investigations, the Gardaí stated today that they have not been able to locate Kyran or obtain any information on his present location.

Additionally, they claim that they have not found any proof that Kyran is still alive and that they believe he may have passed away violently.

A senior investigating officer from Drogheda Garda Station is in charge of the inquiry, reports RTE.

There have been no arrests.

Additionally, the Gardaí stated that the Child and Family Agency, Tusla, is exchanging information with the inquiry team and cooperating with the probe.

In order to create a chronology of Kyran’s most recent travels, investigators are also contacting the schools he attended to enquire about his attendance history, reports RTE.

No corpse has been found, no possible crime scene has been established, and there is no obvious clue as to Kyran’s whereabouts or what happened to him.

The Garda have urged anybody with information in the community who may assist with the investigation to get in touch with any garda station, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or the Drogheda Garda Station at 041-9874200, reports RTE.
