Drone drops hundreds bags of cannabis onto busy street in Israel

Israel’s stoner population got a pleasant surprise on Thursday afternoon when a drone dropped 100s of bags of cannabis onto a busy Tel Aviv square, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Dozens of people rushed to grab the free weed, which was distributed by a Telegram group called ‘Green Drone’ advocating cannabis legalisation. The group said that this operation is the first in their ‘Rain of Cannabis’ project, which aims to distribute a kilo of free weed across Israel between two gram bags. In Ireland, this quantity is generally priced at fifty euro.

The group said that due to Covid-19 restrictions, they were forced to innovate in their methods of distribution, hence the drone. Police confirmed that two men in their 30s were arrested for staging the operation, and are currently detained in Tel Aviv.
