
Last month was the fourth hottest June on record in Ireland, according to the Met Éireann Climate Statement.
Six weather stations broke their all-time maximum temperature records during June, reports Breaking News.
The highest temperature recorded was 32.2 degrees at Athenry, Co Galway, on Thursday 25 June.
Along with having its hottest month on record, Casement Aerodrome station in Dublin recorded the second-highest minimum temperature ever at 20.3 degrees, reports Breaking News.
Thirteen stations broke their June maximum temperature records.
This included Mace Head, Co Galway at 30.5 degrees, Claremorris, Co Mayo at 31.3 degrees, Knock Airport, Co Mayo at 30.3 degrees, Markree, Co Sligo at 30.2 degrees and Finner, Co Donegal at 30.6 degrees, reports Breaking News.
Dublin also recorded the highest mean monthly temperature of 16.2 degrees at the Phoenix Park.
However, it was also a very wet month, with rainfall above average in several counties, reports Breaking News.
Newport, Co Mayo, had 143.6mm of rain across June, an increase of 154% of the average for the month.
The place which saw the highest amount of rain on a single day was Cork Airport, with 26.8mm on Friday 5 June, reports Breaking News.
