Drunk man (36) who threatened to slap ‘foreign’ Garda manages to avoid jail

A Dublin father who got drunk at a baptism and then verbally abused and threatened to hit “foreign” police has avoided jail, reports Breaking News.

Peter McDonagh, 36, of St Margaret’s Park, Ballymun, D11, pleaded guilty to threatening, abusive and offensive behaviour and failing to comply with police orders made under the Public Order Act.

Dublin District Court heard that a taxi driver threw him out of his taxi in Ballymun Road on October 28 after making an alleged “racist remark”.

Gardaí told him to leave the area carefully, but the married father-of-five replied: “F**k off, I’ll slap you, you c***”, reports Breaking News.

The court heard he had previous convictions for failing to pay a taxi fare, driving without insurance and illegally entering a building.

But six years have passed since his last crime, reports Breaking News.
