Dubai uses weather modification technology to induce rain as heat wave persists leading to fresh water shortage

The oil rich Persian Gulf emirate of Dubai has used weather modification technology to produce artificial rain in order to combat a 50 °C heat wave that has been blighting the country

The UAE used drones that released electrical charges into the clouds causing them to clump together and form precipitation in a move that comes after the country decided to invest in the technique of producing clouds to induce rain to make up for its shortfall in freshwater resources.

The investment in weather medication technology appears to have paid off with the country reporting that 6.7 million cubic meters of water was collected in just two days. The average cost of the technique is $1 for each cubic meter of water extracted from the clouds.

Other countries such as Russia have admitted to using weather modification techniques for example to disperse clouds allowing for rainless, sunny days for events such as national celebrations.
