Sources at Dublin Airport have confirmed its expansion, with plans to build a second runway now confirmed.
The runway, which will be built parallel to the existing one, will cost around €320m and will support 1,200 jobs during its construction phase.
Dublin Airport has experienced a marked surge in passenger numbers. Last year, a record 25 million people used its facilities.
Initial works will begin later in 2016.
