Dublin airport whistleblower allegedly suggests that the airport could be at risk of a potential security threat

Transport Minister Eamon Ryan has reportedly been warned of potential security threats at Ireland’s largest airport, Dublin Airport.

According to an exclusive report published by the Irish Independent, a Dublin airport whistleblower accused the minister of a possible terrorist threat at the airport, reports The Irish Mirror.

The fire allegation is now reportedly part of an investigation by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, the District Attorney, owner and operator of Dublin and Cork airports, explained that for “obvious reasons” it is not commenting on safety issues, adding that the authority fully complies with “stringent security requirements,” reports The Irish Mirror.

The DAA said it “never comments on matters of a security nature for obvious reasons given that aviation security aims to prevent acts of unlawful interference, by keeping threatening items such as arms and explosives away from aircraft. We never comment on the frequency, nature or findings of any audits or investigations for similar reasons to avoid sharing intelligence on such matters in any medium with those who might seek to bring about such unlawful acts.”

“Aviation is one of the most highly regulated industries in the world. Dublin Airport is subject to regular, independent, national and international oversight of our compliance with stringent security requirements. daa is fully engaged continuously to ensure that the appropriate safety and security standards are always in place at Dublin Airport,” it said, reports The Mirror.
