Autumn might have only recently ended, but the holiday period is already drawing nearer – with just 76 days to Christmas, or 11 weekends remaining to complete your gift buying, organizing and setup tasks, reports The Mirror.
Dublin is preparing for a fresh holiday adventure named TwinkleTown, which will turn Smithfield Square into an enchanting, seasonal paradise.
It aims to “mix entertainment, culture and holiday enchantment for everyone to relish, with the wonderful Santo Panto and the Magic Present Machine as the main features beside a selection of beloved winter draws like Ice Rink, Ferris Wheel, Vintage Fairground, Christmas Market and a warm Twinkle Tavern”, reports The Mirror.
The event will cater to all ages – featuring an ice rink alongside a Christmas market, twinkle tavern, Ferris wheel, vintage fairground and The Spiegeltent, a space highlighting local Irish performers.
A key attraction will be the Santo Panto and the Magic Present Machine, portrayed as “a touching live performance filled with tunes, chuckles, illusions and plenty of chaos”. It will last about 20 minutes and occur every Saturday and Sunday in December, plus daily on December 20, 21, 22 and 23, between 10am and 7pm. Each child present will receive an advance holiday gift from Santa Claus, reports The Mirror.
Organizers have now formally announced the market will launch at 1pm on Friday, November 29 and continue until Sunday, January 4 from 11am to 9pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 9pm on weekends.
Commenting on TwinkleTown’s debut in collaboration with Dublin City Council, Councillor Ray McAdam, Lord Mayor of Dublin said: “It’s fantastic to have a beautiful Christmas experience like TwinkleTown located right in the heart of the city on Smithfield Square. It’s going to be exciting, inclusive, family friendly and a real bright spot in the city’s festive activities this year – I’m really looking forward to experiencing the sparkle of TwinkleTown with my own family this Christmas,” reports The Mirror.
Admission to TwinkleTown is complimentary, though features like the Santo Panto and the Ice Rink need tickets, obtainable via the website or at the venue.
Independently, Dublin Winter Lights will make a comeback this season, illuminating 18 renowned landmarks with stunning light displays from late November. From bridges and statues to Merrion Square Park, the city will glow with hues and creativity, offering a wondrous outing for every generation, reports The Mirror.
