Dublin football manager Jim Gavin will be given the honour of the freedom of the city following unambiguous backing from the city’s Council.
The recommendation which was initially submitted by Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe, was backed by all city council leaders this evening.
Gavin who led Dublin to a historic fifth All Ireland Football Championship in a row was highly backed given the achievement.
Citing reasons for the prestigious honour, Lord Mayor McAuliffe said no reason was needed as Mr Gavin’s achievement was incredible.
It is expected that Mr Gavin will be given the honour in the near future.
