A garda has been thrown out of his job for time being after a video emerged on social media showing him and a fireman he’s meant to fight in a white collar boxing charity match taking the rise out of each other.
The two videos were widely condemned by the traveller community, some of whom have used social media to call out opponents in bare knuckle boxing matches over the years.
The clip shows the garda responding to a fireman who pretend to pour urine over his face preparing for the fight. The garda, wearing a garda vest, responds by saying that he’ll end up kicking the bucket (of urine) that he splashed his face from.
Many people say that the videos were harmless fun but the traveller community took exception and demanded action be taken and the garda has been suspended pending a thorough investigation.
