A man in his twenties has died after being assaulted in Dublin last night.

Gardaí were called to Curragh Hall Crescent in Tyrrelstown around 10.30pm following reports of a disturbance involving several individuals, reports RTE.

By the time officers reached the location, the crowd had already dispersed.

Shortly afterward, the injured man arrived at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead, reports RTE.

Another man, also in his twenties, has been detained in connection with the case and is currently being questioned at a garda station in Dublin.

This afternoon, Curragh Hall Crescent and a nearby wooded area remained sealed off, reports RTE.

Garda forensic experts examined several sections of the restricted zone, including areas in front of apartment blocks—believed to be where the confrontation began—and the lower end of the neighbouring street, Curragh Hall Drive.

Locals who live nearby said they became aware of the incident after hearing shouting and described seeing the injured man being helped into a vehicle, reports RTE.

An incident room has been established at Blanchardstown Garda Station, led by a Senior Investigating Officer, and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist the victim’s relatives.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the event or who has relevant information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station, reports RTE.
