Dublin is safe, Helen? Dublin man jailed for robbing coffee shop holding broken glass bottle

A guy was given a four-year jail term, with an additional year and a half suspended, for robbing a Dublin coffee shop while carrying a shattered glass bottle, reports Breaking News.

Glen Conroy, 35, of North Fredrick Street, Dublin 1, entered a guilty plea to one count of robbery at the Triangle Coffee Shop, Donabate, County Dublin, on June 25, 2018, according to testimony given to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Five of his 67 prior convictions were for robbery.

This was a “very difficult and sad case,” according to Judge Patricia Ryan, who handed down the sentence on Thursday, reports Breaking News.

Judge Ryan stated that the defendant’s possession of a shattered glass bottle during the crime was an aggravating element.

She mentioned that money was requested and seized, as well as the impact the robbery had on the harmed people.

The court stated that Conroy’s early guilty plea, his confessions, and his assistance with the gardaí were among the mitigating considerations.

She stated that the court was aware of Conroy’s early years and his family history, reports Breaking News.
