This is the first image of the man who was killed in Dublin during an alleged one-punch attack, reports The Mirror.

Five days after the alleged assault, Alexandru Dumitrasco, a 37-year-old Moldovan national, passed away in a hospital on Thursday night.

It took place on Sunday night in the Clonsilla Inn parking lot in Dublin 15.

Since the alleged attack, he had been treated in Blanchardstown’s Connolly Hospital; however, gardai reported on Friday that he passed away on Thursday night, reports The Mirror.

They issued a new call to action for witnesses.

Officers said in a statement: “Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of the premises at the time of the incident to come forward. They are also appealing to anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam footage from Clonsilla Road between the junctions of Shelerin Road and Porterstown Road at the time to contact them,” reports The Mirror.

“In particular, investigating Gardaí are appealing to an off-duty medical professional that provided medical assistance at the scene to make himself known to Gardaí in Blanchardstown. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station,” reports The Mirror.

Crocmaz, a hamlet in southeast Moldova near the Ukrainian border, is where Mr. Dumitrasco was born and raised. He had spent a number of years in Ireland.

In order to return his corpse back his hometown, the Moldovan community in Ireland and the residents of Crocmaz are now banding together to fund up to €15,000.

The appeal reads: “Dear citizens of the Republic of Moldova and people of good faith, we come to you with a great request to help the Dumitrasco family from the Crocmaz village, Stefan Voda district, to repatriate the lifeless body of the young man Dumitrasco Alexandru, aged 37, who had a tragic end and died on February 6 in Dublin, Ireland. A huge amount is needed (up to 15000 €) for his parents and I am asking for the help of us to bury their child according to faith and to be able to say goodbye. We ask you from all the pain to make a donation,” reports The Mirror.
