Judge Orla Crowe has sentenced a 62-year-old paedophile to just nine months in prison after he plead guilty to sexually assaulting three children.
The Sunday World reports that Iosach O’Riain of Mount Eagle Rise, Leopardstown Heights, Dublin 18, plead guilty to guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl in her family home in Dublin on different dates in 1978 and 1979 when she was aged seven and also plead guilty to sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy in the same time period.
It was revealed in court that the predator orally raped the little boy on two occasions.
In 1995, O’Riain molested a 15-year-old boy in his own bedroom, following a family funeral.
O’Riain was aged 19 at the time of the first known attack and aged 36 at the time of his last known assault, reports the Sunday World.
The three courageous survivors reported O’Riain to gardaí in March 2020 and in November 2021 he plead guilty to three counts of sexual assault.
According to the Sunday World, all three of O’Riain’s victims explained the devastating impact the attacks had on their lives one victim saying
“My innocence and trust were taken away from me,” he said. He said it affected his ability to relate to people and he turned to alcohol, drugs and violence to cope with anger, shame and despair.”
Despite this lifelong devastation caused on these three known victims, Judge Orla Crowe saw fit to sentence the dangerous predator to just nine months in prison.
Before 2023 the serial child molester will be a free man again.
