Dublin man pleads guilty to stealing Bus Éireann bus and driving it away from a Donegal garage

A man who admitted to stealing a Bus Éireann vehicle from a bus terminal in County Donegal has appeared in court, reports Breaking News.

Derek Dunne entered a guilty plea when he appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Dunne, of Markievicz House in Dublin, is accused of illegally obtaining and using a mechanically powered vehicle on July 10, 2023, at Bus Éireann Bus Station, Ramelton Road, Letterkenny, without the owner, Bus Éireann Transport Company,’s permission or legal authority, reports Breaking News.

Throughout the hearing, the 24-year-old remained silent.

Dunne had pleaded guilty in advance, the court was informed, reports Breaking News.

Section 112 of the Road Traffic Act of 1961 (as amended by Sections 65 and 18 of the Road Traffic Acts of 1968 and 2006, respectively) is violated by the accusation.

Barrister Daniel Comerford, BL, represented Dunne, reports Breaking News.

According to Mr. Elders, his client was already interacting with Dublin’s Probation Services.

He asked that the matter be adjourned and rescheduled for the court’s October session, reports Breaking News.

John Aylmer, the judge, concurred.

In order to appear in court for sentence in October, Dunne was freed on continuous bail, reports Breaking News.
