Dublin may see no Christmas lights this year as retailers are set to feel the effects of Level 5 restrictions

Dublin may face the prospect of having no Christmas lights this year as retailers say there will be a decision to made if Level 5 restrictions continue past December 1st.

Speaking to RTE’s DriveTime programme, the Chief Executive of Dublin Town Richard Guiney said that retailers will have consider their position if there is little to no trade.

Guiney told the programme if restrictions go past the scheduled date, retailers might see no point in putting up the lights at an extra cost.

Although Guiney said retailers would consider the public’s views before coming to any decision.

Guiney also asked the public to consider buying Irish when they are shopping online in the run up to Christmas as this is obviously no normal year.

He added that this Christmas will be no ordinary Christmas.
