Dunnes workers are asking the public to march alongside them tomorrow, as staff stages a protest to ask for better pay and greatly improved working conditions.

The company agreed to a 3% pay rise last month, but Mandate’s Gerry Light has stated that job security is of paramount importance for the workers the union represents.

Mr. Light said “as the economy recovers it’s vital we don’t base that recovery on low-paid, insecure work. There’s a responsibility on all of us – including employers, politicians and workers – to ensure that work pays for everyone in our society.”

Workers, family members, and supporters will gather at Merrion Sq., Dublin, at 1pm and will march towards the Dunnes Stores head office in Georges Street.
