Dust off the BBQ – Met Eireann says weekend temperatures will reach 22c and possibly higher




Ireland is set for hot weather this week as high pressure continues to bring the long-awaited summer heat.

Met Éireann has forecast dry and settled conditions with good sunny spells and above average temperatures in May.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-low 20s this week and could be even higher over the weekend, with forecasters predicting temperatures of up to 22C.

The national weather forecaster says there will be very little rain as the good weather continues into the weekend and is likely to continue into next week.

Met Éireann gave an overview of each day, saying: ““Dry with good spells of hazy sunshine on Tuesday. A little cloudier in the north and northwest. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, warmest in Leinster and Munster, in light northwesterly breezes. Staying dry with good clear spells tonight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in very light northwesterly or variable breezes,” reports The Mirror.

Generally dry with sunny spells on Wednesday. In the north and north-west it will be slightly cloudier, with light rain or drizzle in the afternoon and evening. The highest temperatures are usually between 15 and 20 degrees, warmest in the southeast with a light northerly wind.

“Generally dry with clear spells on Wednesday night. Just a slight chance of some light rain or drizzle lingering in the northwest early on. Lowest temperatures generally ranging from 6 to 10 degrees, coolest in Ulster, in light north to northwest breezes,” reports The Mirror.

Dry with lots of sun on Thursday. There is a slight chance of isolated rain showers moving into western areas. The highest temperatures are generally between 16 and 21 degrees, warmest in Münster with a light northerly wind.

“Dry and generally clear Thursday night. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light north to northeast breezes. Friday will be dry and sunny. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees in very light and variable breezes. Dry and generally clear on Friday night with a chance of some mist and fog patches developing towards morning. Minimum temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in very light and variable breezes,” reports The Mirror.
