Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act reveal that Irish Water boss John Tierney liberally used his business card during the 2013-2014 period, accruing a total of over €12,000.
Expenses put on the card included trips abroad to Amsterdam, Edinburgh, purchases of ‘resource material’, expensive meals, mobile phone equipment, car maintenance bills, parking facilities, and other assorted expenditure.
A lot of money has also been spent on kitting out Irish Water offices, including a state-of-the-art gym at a cost of €55,000.
No expenses have been spared on entertaining exployees either, with a ‘laughter yoga’ session at the cost of €250 among the most colourful productivity aids.
