€70,000 worth of jewellery taken in Dublin heist

Garda-Tape

The Dublin 4 house of thr well known charity campaigner Norma Smurfit was targeted by a gang of raiders who broke into the property and made good their escape with a loot of about €70,000 worth of jewellery. Nothing else was taken in the raid.

Ms. Smurfit was not in the house at the time.

Neighbors were alerted by an alarm going off at the property. When they went to investigate, they realized what had happened and called Gardai.

Officers at Blackrock Garda Station are investigating. Gardai believe this was a targeted and well – planned raid.

This burglary is the latest in a long string of similar crimes in the south Dublin area in the last few months. Thieves have been targeting properties belonging to wealthy business people around the Dublin 4 district.

It is not known whether the same gang is behind all these crimes.
