Eight people sustained stab wounds during an attack inside the Crossroads shopping mall in Minnesota, United States, yesterday evening.
The suspect, who was wearing a private security firm uniform and made references to Allah during the incident, was shot dead by an off-duty police officer.
It is understood that the suspect asked at least one person if they were Muslim.
All eight victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Local authorities have not yet confirmed whether or not the attack is linked to international terrorism. The suspect was known to police, but only in reference to minor traffic violations.
The mall was put into lockdown for a time while police cleared the area.
