Elderly afraid they won’t be able to afford to heat their home this winter as government appear to fail to act yet again

The government is being lambasted by elderly support groups who say that old people living around the country are petrified that they won’t be able to afford to hear their homes this winter.

Some people say that the government couldn’t care less about the elderly given that they’re Irish and not Ukrainian.

Ireland may see public service buildings turning their lights off during the night alongside possibly turning down the thermostats in buildings where people work in during the day.

The Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said that consumers face major price hikes over the coming months but that the government will do all that it can to ensure that the lights stay on around the country.

Ryan said that the government will look at time of day pricing to see if that can alleviate the bills people will face, but many say that it’s not enough and that the elderly in particular will suffer as a result of the government’s ineptitude on handling the problem.
