An elderly man has died after he was gored by a bull in southern Spain.
According to reports in Spain, the 74-year-old man died after the bull charged at him during the Toro Embolado bull running festival on Easter Sunday.
It is believed the man who has since been named as Juan José Varo, died after he sustained a punctured lung and several broken ribs following the incident which occurred in Vejer, Cadiz.
Mr Varo who was attending the annual event which has been held since 1976, was apparently injured when he became entraped in an enclosure with the raging bull.
Although the pensioner tried to escape the rampaging bull by climbing over a wall, it is understood that the bull knocked him down.
It is reported that onlookers tried to distract the bull in order for Mr Varo to get away, but unfortunately their attempts were made in vain as the 82 stone bull proceeded to attack the fallen pensioner a further two times.
The event which is considered a part of Spanish tradition sees two bulls with balls attached to their horns being released onto the streets as crowds try to flee, has been held every year since 1976.
