Gardaí in Co Offaly have confirmed that an elderly man has died following a road traffic incident in the Mountheaton area on Thursday evening.
It is understood the 85-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car on the Roscrea/Shinrone Road at approximately 6pm.
Gardaí say the driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the incident.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
